Strong Tower Insurance Group has announced its partnership with the first Eden Village community in Arizona, planned for development Mesa. This initiative marks a significant step forward in addressing the pressing issue of chronic homelessness, offering a sustainable, permanent supportive housing solution for the community’s most vulnerable residents.
The story of this project begins in 2014 with a simple, compassionate act by members of Christ Greenfield Lutheran Church in Gilbert, AZ. They began offering meals to the homeless and working poor, and these events quickly grew into more than just a dinner—they became gatherings to listen and connect and from this, La Mesa Ministries was born. In Spanish, La Mesa translates to “the table” and that’s what the mission is, to create Christ-centered communities and welcome everyone to the table.
With the worsening housing crisis, La Mesa Ministries sought to do more. They partnered with The Gathering Tree in Springfield, Missouri, the originator of the Eden Village concept, to learn how to replicate the model in Arizona. With generous support from local Arizona businesses, families, and the community, La Mesa Ministries purchased land in Mesa Arizona, and has been approved by the City of Mesa.
Earlier this summer, Martin Uhlhorn and his wife Brandi, key supporters of the Arizona project, visited the original Eden Village in Springfield to witness its impact firsthand. This visit provided them with a deeper understanding of how such a community can benefit those in need and offered a glimpse into a brighter future the Mesa Eden Village will provide.

Strong Tower Insurance Group’s partnership brings crucial support to this project. By joining forces with other local businesses, they are helping to build more than just homes; they are helping to build a stable and supportive foundation for people to reclaim their lives. The partnership showcases how local businesses can leverage their position to create meaningful, tangible change in their communities.
Under the management of La Mesa Ministries a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, Eden Village Arizona is on track to build 21 units, completely furnished and decorated all having one bedroom, one bath and a kitchen and living room. Eden Village Arizona amenities will include a club house where residents can work and interact with others, volunteers, guests, etc. Each resident pays a fixed monthly, below market rental rate.
